The purpose of this project is to restore the safety conditions of the Retiro terminal station building of the North Belgrano railway, which houses the central administration of Ferrovías S.A.C., by repairing and refurbishing its different components, which were considerably deteriorated. All the project was based on the respect for the Historic Monument nature of the building. In this respect, all repair and refurbishing works followed the guidelines provided for by the NATIONAL COMMISSION FOR MUSEUMS, MONUMENTS AND HISTORIC PLACES. Works were performed without vacating the building. A tubular scaffolding system was set up, so as not to block the front access to the building and other working areas. All façades, lateral walls and the interior courtyard were restored. Deteriorated and missing ornaments were reproduced. The dome and all mansard roofs were restored by changing the deteriorated wooden structure, replacing all broken and missing slates, and relaying those slates that had been removed and were still in good condition. The historic clock was restored and repaired. Existing openings were restored and missing ones were produced. The eave on 15th street was reconstructed, the electrical network was repaired and the existing historic light fixtures were restored.
